Tomás Herrera

CFA, Portfolio Manager, Multi-Asset

Investment Team

Tomás Herrera manages the Global Multi-Asset Income Strategy, which he launched at Wealth in 2021. He decides how the portfolio is divided between shares, bonds and real assets, within the ranges set by the asset allocation committee, and he picks the global equity and infrastructure holdings himself. Before Wealth he spent a decade building income portfolios for pension schemes. He is a CFA charterholder and thinks in scenarios rather than forecasts.

Tomás was born in Seville and grew up in Madrid. He studied Economics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and took an MSc in Financial Mathematics at the University of Warwick. He started as a quantitative analyst in the asset management arm of a Spanish insurer, modelling how long policyholders would live and what that meant for the bonds the company held.

In 2011 he moved to London to join the fiduciary management team of a pensions consultancy, running multi-asset portfolios for defined benefit schemes, and later led its income portfolios. He joined Wealth in 2020 to design the multi-asset strategy from first principles, using the firm’s own equity and credit research rather than other managers’ funds.

He plays chess for a club in Hammersmith and is visiting, without much hurry, every Romanesque church in Castile.
