Hannah Mercer runs everything at Wealth that is not investment: operations, risk, compliance, technology and client reporting. She joined in 2015 from a London fund manager, where she was head of operations, and became Chief Operating Officer and a partner in 2018. The plain quarterly reports our clients receive are her design. She chairs the risk committee and is the firm's main contact with its depositary, auditors and fund administrator.
Hannah read Mathematics at the University of Bristol and qualified as a chartered accountant while working in fund accounting at a global custodian. She spent five years reconciling other people’s portfolios and learned that most operational failures start with a spreadsheet nobody owns.
In 2007 she joined a mid-sized London fund manager and became its head of operations. There she led the move to a new fund administrator, rebuilt client reporting from scratch and ran the firm’s response to two changes of regulation. At Wealth she has kept the operating model deliberately simple: one administrator, one depositary, one set of numbers that every team uses.
She runs fell races in the Lake District most summers and is treasurer of a youth orchestra in Richmond.
