Eleanor Whitcombe
Chief Investment Officer
Investment Team
Eleanor Whitcombe co-founded Wealth in 2013 and has led its investment team ever since. She has managed UK equity income portfolios for more than 20 years and still runs the UK Equity Income Strategy herself, with Daniel Okafor. As Chief Investment Officer she chairs the asset allocation and stewardship committees, and every position the firm takes passes across her desk. Clients know her for short answers and long holding periods.
Eleanor began her career in 1999 as a UK equity analyst in the investment arm of a large British life insurer, covering utilities and telecoms and later the banks. In 2006 she moved to a long-established City fund house, where she managed UK income portfolios for pension schemes and charities for seven years and sat on its stewardship committee.
She left in 2013 to found Wealth with James Hartley. Her view then, and now, is that a small firm with a fixed capacity serves clients better than a large one with a sales target. She read Modern History at Durham University and is a trustee of an almshouse charity in south London.
Outside work she grows dahlias on an allotment in Camberwell and is walking the Thames Path from source to sea, one weekend at a time.
